Colour chart of women botanical illustrators

Biography: (Madrid, 1975). Profesora asociada en el grado de Diseño de la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Trabaja como fotógrafa y diseñadora en colaboración con agencias y editoriales, y ha participado como diseñadora editorial en varios proyectos en torno a la botánica como «Herbarios Imaginados» o «Ellas Ilustran botánica», de la que también es co-comisaria. Miembro del grupo de investigación Arte, Tecnología, Imagen y Conservación del Patrimonio Cultural, actualmente realiza su tesis doctoral sobre los herbarios fotográficos y la representación botánica en el arte y la ciencia a través de la fotografía.

Abstract:

This colour chart aims to shed light on the relationships between art, science, and gender through the lives and work of some of the most prominent women scientific botanical illustrators. Within it, we can find a small sample of the work of women who, from the 17th to the 20th century, used colour in an exquisite manner to create herbariums.
