Abstract:

One of the CSIC’s functions is to inform, assist and advise public and private entities on science and technology, as stated in article 5 of its Articles of Association. As part of this function, the report Cultural heritage at risk: challenges of adapting to climate change, from the Science for Public Policy collection, is presented as a document aimed at public administrations, companies and society in general. It analyses how cultural heritage, one of the main values of today’s society, is affected by the impact of climate change, aggravated, moreover, by growing anthropic pressure (demografic, economic and industrial). It also considers the effects derived from the alteration and destruction of cultural heritage and presents the action and lines of research being developed by the CSIC to face this challenge.
