Abstract:

The rules governing the designation of algae, fungi and plants are reviewed every six years at the meetings of the Nomenclature Section of the International Botanical Congress. The previous Spanish edition, published ten years ago, was based on the results of the XVI Congress held in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1999. This Spanish edition of the International Code of Nomenclature is the translation of the official English version and has been published almost simultaneously with it. It incorporates the decisions made at the XVIII International Botanical Congress held in Melbourne, Australia, in 2011. The changes in the naming rules decided at the XVII Congress in Vienna, in 2005, may not have been sufficiently significant to justify its Spanish translation.
