Abstract:

María Dolores Fernández-Posse (Pachula as she was called by those who knew her) began her scientific career as a student of Antonio Arribas at the University of Granada. She developed her remarkable ability as an archaeologist in excavations Arribas’ team were conducting in the settlements of the Cerro de la Encina (Monachil) and Cuesta del Negro (Perullena) and she completed her doctorate with her thesis El final de la Edad de Bronce en la Meseta Norte (The End of the Bronze Age in the North Plateau): la Cultura de Cogotas (the Cogota Culture). In parallel, she joined the Ministry of Culture’s Archaeology Department in 1975, after meeting the department’s head, Juan Maluquer de Motes through Arribas; she worked in the department until her untimely death in 2007. This book is a tribute to Pachula and a reflection on her wide range of friendships and scientific interests.
