The second edition of the monograph of the "Fauna Ibérica" series devoted to the reptilian orders Testudines and Squamata of the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands has been revised and updated to reflect the increase in knowledge of this group over the past years. The main part of the book contains 15 families, 34 genera, and 60 species accounts, including illustrated dichotomic keys. The species accounts include sections devoted to morphology, skeleton, sexual dimorphism, genetic data, variation, distribution, habitat, activity, food habits, predators, parasites, reproduction, population structure, and conservation status. Additionally included is a detailed revision of the taxonomic nomenclature as well as updated distribution maps, a glossary and an extensive bibliography.
