Abstract:
Vines and wines not only provide us with a crop or food product of great economic importance worldwide, but also bear close links with our culture, traditions and daily lives. However, their great significance for us is almost matched by our ignorance about the scientific activity associated with them. The following book, with a multidisciplinary, encyclopedic, informative and bilingual style, compiles the worth of the scientists to raise awareness, in a didactic way and easy to understand, all the scientific knowledge (including social sciences) on grapevines and wine developed by all institutions or centers today belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). These pages will also serve as a reference point for researchers, wine-growing companies and other sectors that in fact share common interests with viticulture and winemaking. In this way, not only the results of the scientific studies are shown, but also the research group that carried out the work and the name and contact details of the lead researcher in order to offer those companies or individuals the possibility to ask for further information about any theme included in this book.
