Abstract:

This annex to the Archivo Español de Arqueología [Archive of Spanish Archaeology] sets out the works presented to the second cross-border meeting on the Early History of the Guadiana (SIDEREUM ANA II) held in Merida and Badajoz in May 2008 and which was dedicated to the study of the centuries¿ of traffic between the second and first millennium BC. As in the previous meeting, the latest archaeological finds from the late bronze age period in the valley of the Guadiana are presented in an order that follows the natural course of the river, starting with the Upper Guadiana in Castile-La Mancha, and ending at the mouth, on the Atlantic coast of Portugal. The studies cover the classical themes of the late Bronze Age on the South-East of the Iberian peninsula: decorated stele, working of precious metals, mining, glazed walls, production of bronze, metallurgy, etc. and helped to revise and clarify the chronology of the early history in this geographical area.
