Abstract:

The volume by the Research Group of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid "Temas y géneros en la literatura española de la Edad de Plata" (Themes and genres in the Spanish literature of the Silver Age), seeks to revisit a number of authors who are little-known today, but had a significant public profile in their day: The anthology includes work by Blanca de los Ríos, Carmen de Burgos, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Ernesto Giménez Caballero, Gregorio and María Martínez Sierra, Claudio de la Torre, Luis Oteyza, José Francés, Prudencio Iglesias Hermida, Luis Valera , Antonio de Hoyos y Vinent, Isabel Palencia, Adolfo Sánchez Carrere, José Díaz Fernández and Elisabeth Mulder . The common link between all of them is their cosmopolitanism, reflecting an interest that existed in Spain for all things foreign, beyond space, time, or everyday perception, or embedded in the dream world of worldly wealth and success.
