Abstract:
The presence of US films in Spain during the early decades of Franco’s regime was far from simply being limited to Hollywood productions. Hundreds of films were watched by millions of Spaniards as a part of the information and cultural programmes the United States Government ran in the country. This book aims to demystify these and other widely held mistaken assumptions about the motivations and consequences of the interaction between three of the usual suspects: The Hollywood film industry, the US government and Spain under Franco.
