Biography: Luís Rodríguez Yunta es Licenciado en Geografía e Historia por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Desde 1986 trabaja en el CSIC: hasta 1989 en el Servicio de Acceso al Documento Primario y desde 1990 en el Departamento de Documentación y Análisis Bibliométrico en Ciencias Humanas, realizando, entre otras, labores de análisis documental para el mantenimiento de la base de datos ISOC (en las áreas de Historia, Arqueología, Antropología y Estudios Latinoamericanos), elaboración de publicaciones bibliográficas, estudios sobre la producción científica española, etc. De 2007 a 2010 ha sido Profesor Asociado en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, impartiendo clases en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Documentación. Sus líneas de trabajo y publicaciones versan sobre: elaboración de bases de datos, gestión de calidad, evaluación y estudios de usuarios; análisis documental y lenguajes documentales; recopilaciones bibliográficas; recursos web, portales y blogs; estudios latinoamericanos; y el desarrollo profesional y empleo en Documentación.

Abstract:

This abbreviated edition of 2004 has exactly 14,382 toponymes in total, of which 12,288 are preferred terms and 2,094 are equivalents. 196 countries are represented at the next level of development: 1.- Spain with autonomous communities, provinces and municipalities. 2.- European Union countries (before enlargement of 2004) to two administrative levels of territorial organization except Denmark, Finland, Netherlands and Sweden which has been considered only one level; in all countries have been included the cities over 100,000 inhabitants. 3.- Latin America where it has developed the first administrative level and are considered the major cities of 100,000 inhabitants. 4.- Countries in the rest of Europe with their capitals and cities over 100,000 inhabitants (except for Russia where appear cities over 500,000 inhabitants only). 5.- United States with their states, state capitals and major cities of 1,000,000 inhabitants. 6.- Rest of the world with their capitals and major cities of 1,000,000 inhabitants.
