Abstract:
The present investigation is aimed to analyze technological aspects of the prehistoric Neolithic ceramic through a simple of pieces from the province of Pontevedra (Galicia, Spain). Pottery under analysis comes from different types of contexts, in order to search for social identity patterns or cultural values in the processes of pottery making. The theoretical and methodological approach is based on the concepts and principles of the technological operative chain, landscape archeology and the anthropology of the material culture. Analyses were carried out at the Museum of Pontevedra and a supporting database on sites was created from the inventory of archaeological sites by the Xunta de Galicia. The preliminary results support the initial assumption that technological aspects are spatially, temporally and culturally conditioned. Besides that, new hypotheses are developed on the existence of a natural logic that frames all the process of the production of pottery in this period and area, a logic aimed to hide the cultural order beyond its production.
