Editorial CSIC at BkCI

Editorial CSIC is the first academic publisher in Spain and the Ibero-American area to be included in the Book Citation Index (BkCI) of the Web of Science (WOS), developed by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson-Reuters).

The publishers included in BkCI are qualified with a criterion of high academic value and excellence, with emphasis on a system of peer review analogous to that of scientific journals. The types of editorial content are mainly books and monographs published as a collection or in isolation, conference proceedings, doctoral theses, dissertations, textbooks aimed at the environment of advanced university education and high-level scientific audience, etc.

The product offered includes the recount of citations between the types of publications mentioned, and between these and scientific journals. This type of objective indicator, based on author metrics, is the main novelty and contribution of BkCI and also extends to book chapters.

At the time of its launch in October 2011, BkCI restricted its academic sources to content published in English. This initial restriction has already been eliminated, incorporating content in other languages. Editorial CSIC contributes a significant contribution in Spanish, in both printed and electronic formats.

The high level of editorial and scientific quality of the publishers included in BkCI is evident, with the participation of publishers such as Cambridge University Press, MIT Press, Elsevier, Springer, University of California Press, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, University of Chicago Press, Princeton University Press...

The inclusion of Editorial CSIC reinforces its role as a scientific and academic publisher at a national and international level, an activity that the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) has considered paramount for years.
